Beached Queenie, I’m Starting To Dislike Sand

We decided another day in the desert was sorely needed,
Breakfast was simple though filling, now the day is unimpeded,
We felt a day out riding with no load was best,
Maybe even try the sand if we require a test,
First port of call was to find a mechanic for screws,
Kelly’s thumper shook some out or that was her excuse,
While there we decided to change our oils,
Just over four thousand miles so best now before it spoils,
All done we inspected the map & discovered the road just ends,
So with our adventurous spirit we set off to see if it transcends,
After riding for a while across barren ground with ongoing work,
Reaching where the road finishes & found something that made me smirk,
A perfect tarmac road stretching off into the distance,
So back we turned riding back to camp, not before requiring assistance,
We took a more direct route through some sand,
I misjudged a track & beached Queenie so she could stand,
Luckily the driver behind us saw & immediately helped me out,
Unlike Kelly who I’m pretty sure was laughing without a doubt,
We made it back with no other problems thankfully,
Back for shower, dinner & rest in this lovely camp peacefully.
